MILES "HAWK MAJOR" (Great Britain)
This is a two-seater touring monoplane with such a good turn of speed that it is used very successfully as a light racer. With a maximum speed of about 150 m.p.h., and a cruising speed of about 135 m.p.h., it has become a very popular machine because, although it has a high performance, it is very easy to fly, lands slowly, and has particularly pleasing lines. Soon after its first appearance, it flew into second place in the 1934 King's Cup Race and later made a record time for light aeroplanes in the England-Australia Air Race.
